Hoedown '14 was a TEXAS-SIZED SUCCESS! 2013-2014 PTO Board
PTO BOARD CLASSIFIEDS The 2014-15 PTO Board Nominating Committee has been working with current board members to decipher which positions will be open next year. It is always a challenge to figure out who is leaving, who wants to move to a new position and who wants to nominate a friend as a partner for one of our many 2 person jobs.
About half of the positions have a nominee in place from last year's board and word-of-mouth recruiting. Here is a list of positions that DO NOT have a definitive nominee. SECOND VP, FUNDRAISING: Oversee the fund raising activities of the PTO and serves as the Operations lead for major fundraising events. This is a significant leadership postion on the board, but the work is distributed throughout the year and there is a lot support and strong returning board members who impact this position. A calendar of the year's events is available.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR: Collect and enter volunteer data after Meet the Teacher. Help coordinate volunteer sign ups with event coordinators for special events.
ADVERTISING COORDINATOR/S: Sell advertising packages (website, directory, yearbook) to local businesses. Works with advertisers to ensure we have collected payment and have appropriately sized artwork. We have an established sales distribution list and package information which will be a tremendous to help to our next advertising volunteer!
FALL RAFFLE: Plans and distributes raffle tickets for the raffle that takes place at the Fall Picnic (last day of Sept.).
PARLIAMENTARIAN: Attends all meetings of the Executive Board and the Organization and shall advise the presiding officer on questions of parliamentary law and methods of procedure when requested. She/he shall oversee the Nominating Committee. She/he shall attend all school board meetings and provide a report of recent school board issues at PTO Meetings.
PROGRAM COORDINATOR: Works with the teachers and administration to bring in supplemental education programs (such as HighTouch HighTech). This is primarily a home-based job.
SECRETARY Records minutes of all meetings, takes attendance at all meetings. She/he shall handle all correspondence deemed necessary by the Executive Board.
SPRING FUNDRAISING EVENT – CARNIVAL: Acts as one of the 3 Chairs for the Spring Fundraiser (currently the Hoedown). Works with the Fundraising VP/Operations Chair and Auction Chair to organize the carnival portion. Leads a committee of volunteers in planning the food and activities for the event. The event will be in late April so this is a second semester job.
SPRING FUNDRAISING EVENT – AUCTION: Acts as one of the 3 Chairs for the Spring Fundraiser (currently the Hoedown). Works with the Fundraising VP/Operations Chair and Carnival Chair to organize the auction portion. Leads a committee of volunteers to procure and gather auction items to be auctioned in our Silent Auction during the Spring Fundraiser. The event will be in April so this is a second semester job.
WRITE-A-CHECK COORDINATOR: Coordinate annual “Write a Check” campaign. Coordinator(s) will plan campaign, work with parents for matching fund contributions, and ensure proper communication exists for campaign dates and statutes.

We are in need of volunteers for the OFFICE and CAFETERIA LUNCHROOM.

PINK YOPLAIT LIDS
Pink Yoplait Lids are being collected for their Save Lids to Save Lives Campaign in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. For every lid we turn in, Yoplait will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen. We will collect lids up until December 10! There is a pink bin in the cafeteria. Last year we turned in 898 lids! Can we surpass that number?! Bacon says, “ our possibilities are limitless and we can do it”
